Welcome back to BetaWorks in 2012! The ABS BetaWorks team hopes everyone had an enjoyable festive season!
We are always on the look out for interesting, exciting and engaging Data Visualisations to inspire us to create our own so that we can give you a different perspective on ABS statistics. In line with this, we are constantly collaborating with other agencies to share our knowledge and experience.
Featured below is a JavaScript data visualisation library that demonstrates intuitive, captivating and refreshing Data Visualisations that we like.
The Data-Driven Documents (D3) is lightweight JavaScript data visualisation library for visualising and manipulating documents based on data.
Would you be interested in seeing more ABS statistics in these types of data visualisations?
What ABS statistics do you want to see presented in D3?

If you find something else that inspires you, please share with us and let us know how we could apply it to our statistics.

You could also check out { Link } for some slick javascript charting, particularly for time series.

This is fantastic.
I would love to see medicare coded data represented using some of these tools.
Keep up the great work.

Thanks Craig, we will also have a look at ManyEyes - there are lots of excellent user-generated data visualisations in there.
David - D3 exposes the underlying technology of HTML5, CSS3 and SVG so yes unfortunately it can't be viewed in anything < IE9 as SVG is not supported in IE8. We will consider these sorts of limitations when deciding on which data visualisation technologies to progress.

Thanks guys,
From the thumbnails the examples look pretty good, but I can't actually see them working (I assume because I am not yet on IE 9).

Fantastic set of tools - thanks for the tip as we're looking at them now as well.
ManyEyes has some great tools for visualisation as well.
